Collaboration with UKBB
Together with the University Children’s Hospital Basel (UKBB), we are committed to providing the best possible care for children and adolescents - competently, individually and with a family-centred approach. UKBB stands for state-of-the-art paediatric and adolescent medicine at the highest level and supports patients and their families in a holistic and empathetic way. As Basler Orthopädie René Ruepp, we complement this care wherever custom orthopaedic technology solutions are crucial in everyday life and rehabilitation.
As part of this collaboration, we support children and their families with individually tailored aids in our “Reha Kinderwelt” (Rehab Children’s World) - for example to assist with mobility, personal care, food intake and development. These include custom-made seating and positioning solutions (e.g. for stabilisation and pressure relief), orthopaedic insoles (including sensorimotor insoles), as well as custom orthoses when standard solutions are not sufficient. In addition, we offer rental of aids such as wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs, rollators and walking aids - checked, cleaned and available at short notice. In this way, we create solutions together that support therapy, promote independence and sustainably improve quality of life.

The profession of Orthopaedic Shoemaker (EFZ)
Orthopaedic shoemakers manufacture and repair custom-made orthopaedic shoes and insoles for people with foot problems or walking impairments. They carry out assessments and diagnoses to identify specific foot issues, create individual lasts, and use these to produce shoes and insoles. They also adjust them to fit and perform any necessary repairs.
Documentation and billing are also part of the job, often in collaboration with health insurance providers and medical professionals. Through close cooperation with doctors and therapists, an orthopaedic shoemaker makes a significant contribution to improving patients’ mobility and quality of life.
